Terms of Sale
Last updated: 5 October 2026
These Terms of Sale (“Terms”) apply to every order of PaddleMate hardware from thepaddlemate.com. By completing checkout you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not place an order.
Mandatory consumer rights in the EU/EEA and the United Kingdom are not limited beyond what the law allows. Where these Terms describe our commercial position, they do not waive rights that cannot be waived by agreement.
1. Seller
The seller is The PaddleMate LTD. (company registration no. 12-09-011065, tax no. 27989045-2-12), registered office: 2600 Vác, Szent-Györgyi Albert u. 1., Hungary — also listed in the Impressum.
These Terms cover physical products sold in our shop: POD, BASE, DOCK, TRACKER and kits that include them. Hungarian law and EU consumer rules apply, including Directive 2011/83/EU and Directive (EU) 2019/771.
App access, the training portal and paid subscriptions are separate from the hardware sale. If you buy a kit that includes both, these Terms cover the hardware; any software or subscription terms shown at purchase cover that part.
2. Prices, VAT and shipping charges
Shop prices are in euros. What you see depends on your shipping/billing country and the VAT rules that apply (including reverse charge when a valid EU VAT number is checked). Before you pay, checkout shows the net amount, any tax, shipping and the total.
For deliveries outside the EU, import duties, customs fees or local taxes may be charged on arrival. Those are not in our price and are paid by the recipient.
3. Orders and stock
Availability is shown at checkout. Your order is an offer to buy. We accept it when we email an order confirmation. You can review products, totals, address and shipping before you pay, and fix mistakes.
If we cannot supply an item, we will tell you and refund what you paid for it. You may buy a full kit or separate parts.
4. Delivery
We ship to the countries offered at checkout. Lead times are estimates from the day the order is paid and confirmed. Unless we agree a longer period, we deliver within 30 days of the contract (legal default).
If we miss that deadline, we will tell you; you may cancel and get a full refund. Risk of loss passes when you (or a carrier you chose yourself) take the goods — for consumers, as required by law. If you refuse the parcel and it comes back to us, we may deduct return shipping from any refund.
5. 14-day right to cancel (consumers)
EU/EEA consumers may cancel a distance purchase of hardware within 14 calendar days of receiving it, without giving a reason (Directive 2011/83/EU). For multi-parcel orders, the period starts when the last item arrives.
You may examine the goods as you would in a shop. Permanently mounting the Device on a paddle or other equipment — including with adhesive, glue, epoxy or similar — goes beyond that examination. If you cancel after such mounting (or any other use that is not limited to checking nature, characteristics and functioning), you are liable for the resulting diminished value, which may equal the full purchase price. In practice, return after adhesive installation is usually not eligible for a meaningful refund.
Email contact@thepaddlemate.com (order number helps), or use the short template in section 10. Sending the message before day 14 is enough to meet the deadline.
If you cancel in time and the goods are still unmounted / unused as above, return them within 14 days of telling us, ideally in the original packaging. You pay return shipping unless we say otherwise.
We refund what you paid, including standard outbound shipping, within 14 days of learning of the cancellation, subject to diminished-value deductions where applicable. We may wait until the goods arrive back (or you prove you sent them) and until we have inspected them. Refunds go to the original payment method at no extra charge.
Cooling-off does not apply to clearly personalised goods, or to sealed items that cannot be returned for health/hygiene reasons once unsealed. Digital content or a subscription that starts immediately may lose the cooling-off right for that digital part only if you consent at checkout — never for the hardware itself.
6. Statutory guarantee only (no extra commercial warranty)
We do not offer a separate commercial warranty beyond what Hungarian and EU law already require.
For consumers in the EU/EEA, goods have a two-year legal guarantee from delivery for lack of conformity at delivery (Directive (EU) 2019/771 and Hungarian consumer law). Remedies (repair, replacement, price reduction or termination) follow the law. That right cannot be waived.
Not a lack of conformity (examples)
The following are your responsibility and are not treated as a manufacturing / conformity defect covered by the legal guarantee when they arise from use or care after delivery:
- Electrical contacts and connectors — bent, crushed or corroded pins; water, salt, sand or dirt on the POD–BASE interface; using a powered POD in or under water without the BASE (outside intended IP66 use as a connected pair); damage from poor cleaning or maintenance of contacts.
- Battery deep discharge — leaving the battery empty for a prolonged period, storing the POD uncharged, or ignoring charge/storage instructions in the User Guide. Deep discharge of lithium-ion cells is a known misuse mode (see IEC 62133-2) and is not covered as a conformity defect when caused by such use.
- Impact, crushing, unauthorised repair or modification, non-PaddleMate accessories, adhesive mounting damage, or any use outside the User Guide / intended purpose.
Claims: inspection first
Before we repair, replace or refund under the legal guarantee, we examine the returned Device. Ship it as we instruct, with proof of purchase and a short description of the fault. If inspection shows misuse, wear, contact damage, deep discharge or other non-conformity causes as above, we may decline the claim and may charge reasonable return shipping. If a defect covered by law is confirmed, we proceed with the statutory remedies.
7. Payment
Payment methods appear at checkout. Cards and similar payments are handled by Stripe (or another provider we name there). We do not store full card numbers. Their terms and privacy notice also apply. If payment fails, we may hold or cancel the order.
8. Use on water, software and liability
Only PaddleMate parts and authorised accessories are supported. Issues with third-party gear are not a product defect. The app and portal may need a subscription; paying for hardware alone does not extend a software subscription unless we say so at purchase.
Water sports are inherently risky. You use the Device on water and in training/competition at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PaddleMate is not liable for personal injury, accidents, collisions or sporting harm arising from paddling, SUP, rowing or related activity, nor for lost training or race data, except where liability cannot be excluded (in particular death or personal injury caused by our proven negligence, fraud, or other non-excludable liability under Hungarian or EU law).
Subject to that mandatory minimum, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. The shop is for end users; we may refuse orders that look like unauthorised resale.
9. Complaints and disputes
Write to contact@thepaddlemate.com. EU consumers may also use ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
Hungarian law governs these Terms. As a consumer you keep the mandatory protections of your country of residence.
